　新代表にとっての最初の関門は、党のナンバー２・幹事長の人事だ。党内には「挙党態勢を構築するため代表選の敗者を幹事長にすべきだ」との声がある一方、「共産党との選挙協力などで考えの違う議員を幹事長に起用したらさらに離党者が出る」との指摘もある。まさに背水の陣となる新執行部をどう築くのか、難しい判断が迫られる。
