　マティス国防長官は記者団から北朝鮮に核実験の兆候があるか問われ、「言及したくない」と明言を避けた。その一方で「北朝鮮が比較的短時間でそういったことを実行することは可能だろう」と述べ、警戒感をにじませた。



　一方、トランプ大統領が先月３０日「北朝鮮との対話は解決策ではない」と表明したことについて、マティス長官は「同盟国の日本を越えてミサイルを発射する国と今、対話すべきでないという大統領に同意する」と述べ、歩調を合わせた。
