福島第一原発の事故を教訓に発足した原子力規制委員会の委員長を５年間務めてきた田中俊一氏が、９月の退任を前に開かれた記者会見で「福島のようなことは二度と起こさないという原則で原発の規制を進めてきた」と振り返りました。

そして後任の委員長が原発の再稼働などに不安を感じる住民にどう向き合うべきかを問われ「住民の不安はどう頑張ってもなくならないと思うが、不安が『不安全』にならないよう今まで以上に努力していく必要がある」と述べました。



一方、原発事故を起こした東京電力については「相当変わってはきていると思う」としたものの「厳然と残る事故の責任に立ち向かう主体的な役割が不足している」と述べ、廃炉は国ではなく東京電力が覚悟をもって進めるべきと訴えました。



原子力規制委員会の後任の委員長には更田豊志委員長代理が就任することになっています。
