内戦が続くシリア出身で、去年のリオデジャネイロオリンピックに難民選手団の一員として出場したユスラ・マルディニさんがＮＨＫの取材に応じ、２０２０年の東京オリンピックでの活躍を誓うとともに、難民への支援を呼びかけました。

シリア出身のユスラ・マルディニさん（１９）は、おととし、内戦を逃れ船で地中海を移動中に船が故障し、海を泳ぐなどしてその後、ドイツにたどりつきました。



去年のリオデジャネイロオリンピックでは、難民選手団の一員として、競泳の１００メートルバタフライなどに出場しました。



来日したマルディニさんは３１日、東京都内でＮＨＫのインタビューに応じ、「東京オリンピックの成功に向けて多くの人が努力していることを知り、私も出場したいとより強く思いました。東京オリンピックでは２０位以内に入りたい」と話し活躍を誓っていました。



マルディニさんは、ことし４月からＵＮＨＣＲ＝国連難民高等弁務官事務所の親善大使を務めるなど、世界各地で難民への支援を訴えています。



マルディニさんは「私や難民の人たちが経験したことを、多くの人たちに伝えられることはとてもすばらしいことです。難民の現状を知ってもらい、多くの人が実際に行動してくれることを望んでいます」と話し、日本に対して難民への理解と支援を呼びかけました。
